ADAM’S PEAK
Adam’s Peak, also known as Sri Pada, is a prominent mountain in the central part of Sri Lanka, reaching an elevation of 2,243 meters. Renowned for its religious significance, the mountain is a pilgrimage site for Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, and Christians. Believed to bear the footprint of Lord Buddha, Lord Shiva, or Adam depending on religious tradition, Adam’s Peak attracts pilgrims from diverse backgrounds. The pilgrimage season, lasting from December to May, witnesses devotees undertaking a challenging ascent to pay homage to the sacred footprint and witness the stunning sunrise from the summit. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the Peak Wilderness Sanctuary, Adam’s Peak stands as a cultural and religious symbol, embodying the spirit of harmony in Sri Lanka.
